Sherri's Ponderings of Life

 Movie Night

Here I was watching the movie, "Speed", Starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, and this thought comes to me. Maybe I'm waiting for my someone to rescue me on a "Bus with a Bomb" like Keanu's Jack rescued Sandra's Annie. Guess in my mind, we're all just waiting for that fateful meeting for our souls to connect. Wonder when that will happen?!

 The Lake House

I've finally saw "The Lake House" on friday when it opened on the 16th, and let me tell you...I was not disappointed at all!! It was a great story about love and how fate/destiny can affect your life forever. Even though the characters are in different time periods, they would not let time be an obstacle to their love. After watching the movie, I really believe that there is that SOMEONE out there in the world for each of us, and it is up to fate and destiny to determine what circumstance and time that we will finally meet. Whether it will be the instant soulmate connection or a friendship that turns into some deeper... I believe that deep inside, everyone of us is praying or wishing that it will happen to us one day in the future. Just keep on believing and it will eventually become reality. You will eventually find the ONE you are meant to be with for the rest of your life.

 World Cup Frustration

This was my facial expression as I was watching the FIFA World Cup opening match between the US and the Czech Republic. I was rooting for them all the way however as the match entered the 2nd half, my facial expression was[EMOTICON:GOODGRIEF1]] I can finally understand the frustration of Red Sox fans that inhibit the Northeast. There were so many close chances to score but fate seemed to be against us. I (and probably a lot of fellow American fans) were willing the team to pick up their speed and lead an attack the Czech republic to scored at least a goal!! Lets hope the US can come back against Italy & Ghana. I don't think I can handle another sad and unsatisfactory play. I haven't waited for four years to see the US lose in the first round. GO TEAM GO & WIN!!!

 One of those Days

So here I was all excited to go see the movie, "The Lake House" when I realized it wasn't the 16th. I wasn't sure if I was just dreaming since it was only 10 o'clock in the morning!! You should have seen me, staring at the showtimes and the calendar for five full minutes before I could acknowledge it truly wasn't the 16th. I was so embarrassed since I had finally succeeded in convincing someone to go see it with me. I have no idea how a whole week has "passed" me by but my only explanation is that my brain is on vacation until September. Guess I will be ready to sob in the theater next week when it truly is the 16th.

 Crossroads of Life

I just finished reading "Mike, Mike, & Me" by Wendy Markham and the theme of the book is about the one that got away. After reading it, I started thinking about the important choices we make in life and whether we will ever regret them in the future. One of the main goals of life is to find the other half that fulfills your every hopes and desires. As you grow older, you begin to question whether the ONE had passed you by, and now you must settle for second-best. Or whether you had made the right choice in choosing your other half when there was another choice on the horizon. In "Mike, Mike, & Me", Beau (the female main character) contemplates whether she had chosen the correct Mike for her ten years ago as she becomes unfulfilled with her life as a 30ish suburban housewife. If we were in Beau's shoes, will we have chosen the correct Mike for us, or will we regret our choices for a lifetime. Everyone is secretly hoping for their Prince or Princess to come and rescue them from the lonely life as a single. When that opportunity arrives, will we recognize it in time to make the right and fateful choice to obtain true happiness of real love? I guess we have to wait and see...
